Replace Acid Etching with Precision CNC Engraving

Safer. Faster. Cleaner. A Smarter Alternative to Acid Etching.

Acid etching has been a longtime method for marking parts in high-precision industries, but its drawbacks — hazardous chemicals, inconsistent results, and time-consuming setup — are hard to ignore. DATRON high-speed CNC machines provide a clean, accurate, and efficient alternative to traditional acid etching. With our advanced technology, manufacturers can replace acid etching with precision CNC to achieve sharp, durable engravings without the environmental or safety concerns of etching chemicals.

Why Manufacturers Are Replacing Acid Etching with CNC Engraving

Chemical-Free Process
CNC engraving removes the need for caustic chemicals, acids, or neutralizing agents — drastically improving workplace safety and environmental sustainability. This dry machining process minimizes regulatory burdens, eliminates specialized ventilation requirements, and supports cleanroom and eco-conscious manufacturing operations.

Mark With Unmatched Precision
DATRON high-speed milling systems use micro tooling and advanced probing to deliver high-resolution markings with tight tolerances. Whether you’re engraving intricate logos, serial numbers, 2D barcodes, or alphanumeric codes on stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium, the results are consistently sharp, legible, and durable — perfect for mission-critical parts in aerospace, medical, or defense applications.

Faster Turnaround Times
Acid etching requires time-consuming stencil creation, masking, and chemical dwell time. CNC engraving streamlines your workflow by eliminating all of that. Simply load your digital file and start machining. This reduces setup time, allows for quicker changeovers between jobs, and accelerates production without sacrificing quality.

Better Repeatability
Chemical-based etching often leads to inconsistent results due to stencil wear, uneven etchant flow, or human error. CNC engraving offers automated, digital control that ensures the same high-quality engraving on every part, every time. This level of repeatability is essential for batch production and compliance with traceability standards like UID and ISO.

Reduced Operating Costs
By eliminating consumables such as acids, resists, and masks — and reducing waste disposal requirements — CNC engraving significantly lowers ongoing costs. Tooling expenses are minimized thanks to DATRON’s ultra-precise, long-lasting tools, and machine uptime is maximized through intuitive controls and reliable performance.

Twenty-Four Hour Engraving Capabilities

We run them [M8Cubes]  pretty much 24 hours a day. At the end of our shift—around 6 or 7 PM—we set them up to run overnight. When we come in the next morning, our parts are already cut and ready to go.
