Modernize Your Approach to Complex Part Manufacturing — Now with Linear Scales

Simplify and Speed Up Complex Part Making

Machining complex, detailed parts on large, heavy machining centers that were designed to manufacture a wide range of parts can be challenging.

VMCs use large cutting tools and have excessive size and weight that just isn’t needed for smaller tooling. In addition, traditional VMCs require expertise that can be difficult to find and costly to employ. But what if you could make parts faster and easier with a system that was specifically designed for machining complex parts? What if you could reduce your entire part-making workflow exponentially? And what if it was so easy to use, nearly anyone could run it?

Whether you’re looking to bring production in-house or complement your existing heavier VMCs, there’s an easier way to make those more detailed and difficult jobs. The DATRON M8Cube will help you optimize your machining workflow for complex parts by ensuring you can effortlessly set up jobs in minutes and reduce (or even eliminate) secondary operations.

Easy Design & Execution

The machine’s capabilities have blown me away. Before, I would spend hours trying to figure out how the parts we outsourced would be made on a machine. The M8Cube has alleviated many concerns about design features and tackles the features with ease.”

Watch the M8Cube in Action

From large parts to nested smaller parts, the compact DATRON M8Cube is designed and built for complex and precision part machining.

  • Large working area with a compact footprint.
  • Rigid, low-vibration design for excellent surface quality.
  • High-speed precision spindles up to 60,000 RPM.

Are You Machining Complex Parts?

The DATRON M8Cube is a high-performance HSC milling machine that is versatile, extraordinarily efficient, and very accurate with a linear scale option. It features a large 40” x 33” work area with a small 69” x 69” footprint, an ergonomic working environment, and a low operating cost. The M8Cube is the top choice for efficiently machining housings, extrusions, and panels made of aluminum and other non-ferrous metals or composites.

Machine Parts Faster – Reduce your cycle time on existing parts by 50% or more. It’s not all spindle speed either, your entire workflow will be faster.

New Revenue Streams – Make intricate parts using small tooling on jobs you couldn’t quote before. Penetrate new markets and introduce new or improved products.

Precision Tolerances – Machine parts at micron level tolerances with the new linear scale option. Hold tight tolerances on large parts or machine a matrix of smaller nested parts utilizing the 40″ x 33″ work area.

Frequently Asked Questions

±0.0006″ positional accuracy (ISO 230 tested). Optional linear scales are available for higher-tolerance applications. Please inquire about a full specification document.

Machines include onboard diagnostics. We provide phone support for initial diagnosis, and many issues can be resolved by swapping plug-and-play components. DATRON stocks parts and tools locally in the USA. For more complex repairs, DATRON employs highly skilled field service technicians who are available nationwide.

The polymer-concrete table has threaded inserts on a 100mm grid. Using DATRON’s conical locating system, vises, pallets, vacuum tables, and fixtures can be positioned and mounted accurately and quickly.

DATRON’s vacuum table system securely holds thin or thick sheet material across the entire work area, even for very small nested parts.

Yes. The M8Cube supports robot or cobot integration. Optional automatic doors and an automation module are available for fully unattended operation.

Yes, especially for small-tool steel machining (.060″ or smaller). Common applications include engraving, micro-grooves, and drilling. Oil is required in the MQL system for steel.

Yes. The PC-based control connects easily to your network via Ethernet. Have your IT team coordinate firewall and security settings with DATRON.

They are mechanically identical except for size:

  • M8Cube: Standard work area 40” x 33”
  • MLCube: Larger work area 60” x 45” for bigger parts or multiple setups

This optional open front section allows mounting of oversized or long parts, such as extrusions. It also supports an optional vertical workholding fixture and is required for a 4th/5th axis trunnion.

Standard requirement is 400V, 3-phase. An optional 11 kVA transformer (280V → 400V) is available from DATRON. The machine should be hardwired to its own dedicated breaker.
