Stepped Polished Double Flute End Mill with Edge Radius

A stepped tool means the cutting diameter is larger than the shank diameter. This facilitates a larger cutting diameter for surfacing with spindles using smaller collet sizes. This tool has extra polishing and radius edges and is designed specifically for surfacing and pocketing in acrylics and plastics only. This tool should not be used on metals as it will dull the polished edge quickly.

Face mill tools are designed to remove a skim coat off the top of a surface. They generally are not designed for roughing and are very effective in truing up your material or quickly providing an excellent surface finish. These larger diameter long-life, micro-grain carbide tools are available in various cutting diameters and lengths, shank diameters, and geometries for specialty applications.

The number of cutting flutes in the tool determine how much material can be removed per rotation. For high speed, bulk material removal, single and double flute are recommended. Higher flutes will produce finer finishes, but may require a lower RPM than single flute mills.
