Tool Changer (15 or 30 Tool Capacity) for the 600W or 2kW spindlesThis tool change configuration can house up to 15 or 30 tools for the 600 watt or 2 kwatt spindles. The tool changer mounts in the back region of the machining working area. Each 15 capacity unit has a pneumatic cover that opens and closes automatically with a tool change or tool length measurement. The actual tool stations consist of an assembly that can be easily replaced if a different shank size of tooling is required. This assembly consists of a brass inlet, spring and steel threaded base. The stations are spring loaded to ensure the tool and its’ tool set adapter or ring is properly seated against the spindle collet face. Included with the tool change unit is a tool length sensor. This is used to measure the length or offset of each tool in the magazine and the data is stored in the control software. This sensor consists of a high precision micro switch with a carbide post mounted above. The sealed assembly is mounted at one end of the tool change unit beneath the cover. The switch is sensitive enough to measure the smallest end mill or drill without breakage. The tool offset management software allows the operator to measure as it needs to or automatically in a program. A program can even be set up such that during the production run, if it measures the tool and has determined it is broken, it will automatically change the tool with a surrogate tool and re-machine from the beginning of that tool path. The tool change unit will need to be configured to accept different tool shank sizes. This configuration can be finalized just prior to shipment of your machine. For example, you will need to determine which stations will need ¼” tooling and which stations require 1/8” tooling. There are also some larger face mill tools that can be accommodated. Your Datron Customer Support Manager can assist you with this configuration. There is a sensor located under the cover of the pneumatic tool change unit. If the cover fails to open, the sensor will alarm the control and the machine will stop. There is also a sensor for a low air pressure condition which will also stop the machine. In the case when 30 tools are required, there is simply a second identical magazine mounted adjacent to the first unit. The only exception being there is no tool length sensor in the second unit. During a tool change, only the magazine that is involved in the change will open. |

Tool Changer (11 or 22 Tool Capacity) for HSK-E 25 ColletsThis tool change configuration can house up to 11 or 22 tools with HSK25 collets. The tool changer mounts in the back region of the machining working area. Each 11 capacity unit is a drawer style unit that opens and closes automatically with a tool change or tool length measurement. The actual tool station assembly consists of a brass inlet, spring and steel threaded base. The stations are spring loaded to ensure the tool and its’ HSK 25 collet is properly seated against the spindle. Included with the tool change unit is a tool length sensor. This is used to measure the length or offset of each tool in the magazine and the data is stored in the control software. This sensor consists of a high precision micro switch with a carbide post mounted above. The sealed assembly is mounted around the middle of the tool change unit between the tool stations. During the tool change, a stream of air automatically exhausts through the spindle bearing to ensure no dust or debris enters the collets during the change. This also occurs during a manual tool change. There is a sensor located such that if the drawer fails to open properly during a tool change, it will alarm the control and the machine will stop. The same will happen if the drawer does not close properly. In front of each drawer unit is a hole in the table to allow for chips or debris to fall below. There is also a sensor for a low air pressure condition which will also stop the machine. In the case when 22 tools are required, there is simply a second identical drawer unit mounted adjacent to the first unit. The only exception being there is no tool length sensor in the second unit. During a tool change, only the magazine that is involved in the change will open. |

Z-Nano™ Tool SensorThe Z-Nano™ sensor head allows tool lengths to be measured quickly, precisely and automatically, as well as a wide variety of tools to be checked. The functional principle with linear guidance is absolutely free of transverse forces so that even sensitive and very small tools can be measured. The Z-Nano™ tool length sensor can be used for machine systems M8, M35 and M7.
The DATRON CNC software supports the following measuring functions:
