Outstanding Machine Design Receives Another International Design Award
DATRON AG has received a red dot design award for the second time. The German machine tool manufacturer has received the internationally recognized product design award for the design of its DATRON M8Cube. The machine developed primarily for the economic machining of aluminium and future-oriented materials, was selected by a distinguished international jury of design specialists as the winner among 4,662 entries.
This is the second prestigious award received by DATRON for its M8Cube, after the iF product design award 2013. The DATRON in-house design convinced the jury by its future-oriented and clear design. The technologically lightweight and compact construction features and the use of contrasting color elements make out of the M8Cube an uncomparable example of mechanical engineering. Part of its comfort features for daily use have been hidden and are invisible.
DATRON’s graduate industrial designer Frank Wesp, responsible for the design of the M8Cube machine, was able to develop a new design concept, reduced in size but at the same time and highlighted the aspect of future-oriented technologies from DATRON. “This new award received by the machine means a great praise”, says Frank Wesp. “The design approach has convinced several prestigious juries from around the world by now. This way, we are not only giving a signal in terms of design but are also showing the machine construction industry that we can also develop aesthetically sophisticated production technologies.”
DATRON AG had received already the red dot design award in 2010 for its dental milling machine D5. The award of the red dot design award, the “red dot”, is an internationally recognized quality seal for design excellence. A high-profile panel of international judges only awards this coveted quality seal to products that distinguish themselves from similar designs through their extraordinary concept.
